Social Center Part 9 (Waiting)

So a major part of this project is the partnership between the PC and Nhlangano Town Council. They are responsible for purchasing the doors and windows. Now in all interactions over the last year, I started talks in Jan and serious talks in May and then once funding was complete again in October. They have assured me they will hold up there end of the agreement.

And now 4 wks into this project, we are still waiting for those doors and windows. I was told the NTC meeting was this week Tues which was pushed to Wednesday. Now I am being told that it has to be discussed and finalized in the finance committee which is supposed to be on Nov 20th. So it is more waiting.

I have spent about E2000 (that is Swazi money not US dollars)(which is supposed to be reimbursed) to get the building to a secure position so Mazinga can move in and we can store materials safely. We have moved relatively quickly with installing the electrical and lets hope, pray and pray some more that this won't come back and bite us since the installed electrical supplies in an unsecured part of the building although all within the security fence.

The plumbing is complete 100%, electrical is 80% complete that can be without ceilings. We have one room, Mazinga's 100% complete, the bathroom minus the windows 100% complete, roof fixed and 3 other office/store rooms painted and electrical complete again just missing doors & Windows. The kitchen is complete. Last Friday Senzo & I spent hte entire day on the roof putting sealant on every nail, crack and seam to make sure the roof doesn't leak. It was pretty close to good but had to make sure.

Up next are the painting of the exterior and ceilings and maybe flooring if we can get that done.

Cost wise the Electrical supplies, Labor and the plumbing supplies are the most costly (in that order). Just under half the funds have been spent. So budget wise I fill very confident that it should be all completed without need for raising any additional funds. Exterior Paint and ceilings are more costly than plumbing and labor but not electrical.

The original schedule is for 8 wks of work, And so I guess that is kind of the half way done report.

Mazinga's completed room

The first installed electrical outlet. Notice the different style of plugs, it has a power switch just for the outlet.

See at the top a light installed.
