SSCS part 3

Its Saturday afternoon and its a busy one.

The Black Terrors have trails (try outs) to add some new players. We ran one of these in Jan so it was actually pretty easy and the assistant coaches knew the drills and way to organize and evaluate the players. So that went smooth.

I had to leave in the middle for a brief meeting with the SRFA (Shiselweni Regional Football Association), then returned to finish and then returned to the meeting.

The SRFA gave Sabelo, Dennis & I the opportunity at the end to present the SSCS plan to all of the managers and executives in attendance at the meeting, easily 50 or more people.

So Sablo who is a keeper on a a rival team. (See this blog post for an early story with Sabelo before we worked together, http://swazilandreflections.blogspot.com/2010/10/game-4-1-3-0-6-points.html) And I am a coach, so as we stood in front of all of these fellow soccer organizers we presented a plan that basically requires all of the teams to commit to allow AMICAALL and its HIV partners to talking to the players. Yeah, there are lots of other aspects of this event but since I came to this country it is my primary job. And basically up until this point soccer and the HIV stuff haven't mixed to well, I have talked individually with a few of players but it just never seemed right to put them through drills and then ask them to where a condom and then expect them to take me seriously as coach.

So the presentation which by now Sabelo & I have down pretty went smooth. We got 24 teams to sign up on the spot and have added 5 more and more are expected to be added as all will want to be involved.

It is a big and complicated event. Next up more meeting with all of hte people in charge.
