White House in Nhlangano

On Monday, the Director from the Office of National AIDS policy who works in the West Wing of the White House and in the late 80's was teacher in one of the Nhlangano High schools came back to visit.

We got to have lunch with him and hear his stories of living in the town back then, other than a few new buildings (several new since I have been here & a new "mall" is being built now) he says not much has changed.

I gave him a copy of the Career Day with Debate plan and told him about the Shuga film that is the center piece of the event.

I worked on the campaign to get Obama elected and saw him speak in person twice but it was interesting to hear some stories from someone who actually works inside hte White House.

When he lived here AIDS was just being talked about and now is the main man in charge of policy for the US on AIDS. Got to wonder how much being a PCV effected his future, he admits he doesn't know cause when he joined the PC he had little what to do.

A cool meeting.
