Game #6 3-3-0 12 Points

It was a rainy, cold day in Swaziland. The field was muddy, the player’s with bad shoes where slipping all over the place and we were playing the #2 ranked team with a record of 4-2-0. They have been one of the best teams in the league for a long time and finished higher in the rankings then the Black Terrors did last year.

So before the game, I told the team at halftime we are going to unleash the BTA (Black Terrors Attack) again. We did this on the team that we got our first win with. Which is basically switching formation at half time from 442 to 433. Pressing hard for an attack and leaving the defense a little vulnerable.
Well, not to brag but it worked AGAIN.

The entire 1st half it was a pretty even game with both teams getting opportunities but even play 0-0 at half. Well, the BTA opened the half and we were more aggressive and unlike the first game there was more chaos on the field and we were creating it.

We were pounding the ball down their throat, shots were missing all over the place and nothing would go in.

Well, with what had to be between 5 and zero minutes left we SCORED. A ball taken down the sideline played into the box passed off to our top goal scorer and he buried it in the back of the net.

Oh my God, did the place erupt. The player ran over to the corner where the fans where went off the field, all of the players ran off the field chasing him it was a mob scene and I went into panic mood, the team was going to lose all sense of on field responsibility with the display of excitement. I almost lost my voice screaming at them to get their head back in the game cause it wasn’t over. The excitement of seeing the ball scored lasted about 30 secs and it was a great 30 secs.

We survived a quick attack which produced a serious shot saved by the keeper. And the game was over. 1-0. Are third win, another dramatic game and our first game not allowing a goal. We are not a high scoring team, but we can score when it counts. And we are becoming very battle tested team.

With the exception of last weeks win, every game has been so very exciting. Good thing I don’t have a heart condition.

And pretty much all players, team execs and fans think I am the greatest coach.  All I keep telling them is that we are undefeated and I don’t play the game the players do. But damn that sure does feel good to hear. And to think I am doing in it a foreign country to players who speak another language (granted they all speak English and the 1st language of soccer is English)

Anyway, the game before us two undefeated teams played and one lost (the one that lost had the better record). Which leaves just two undefeated teams in the league, ironically the team that won we were supposed to play 3 weeks ago (before our first win), but got rained out and it is very likely that we would have lost that game 3 weeks ago.

So we aren’t first in the league but we are playing like it.
