My Birthday and the departure/site arrival day

My Birthday and the departure day for our permanent site. GOD has had his hand on me all my life, leading me on some crazy path. And hear I am in Swaziland moving to the place I will live for 2 yrs and being activity helping fight HIV/AIDS on daily basis.

I have been joking over here that for hte last 15 yrs I have not an stability in my life, work, money, relationship, only the film life, which was GREAT for most of those years. But it took me joining the Peace Corp, traveling to a tiny country in Africa to get an 8 to 4 job in an office and to actually know what I will be doing for the next 2 yrs.

Any non-believers out try and explain that one away. GOD has totally found a way to settle my life down.

So I arrived and unloaded all of my shit in Nhlangano, the PC gives us a bunch of stuff, books, stove, pots, pans, manuels, blankets, so it really is a lot more the to heavy packed bags and to small ones I came over with on the plane.

I will be living in a two room apartment with a bathroom & kitchen. Blocks from my work place and even less blocks from the field I will be coaching and playing at. See what did I say about stabilizing. The power & water having not been turn on yet, So I am still on candle and battery power as I type this.

I decided I needed to paint the place, so I got a holiday weekend here (The Reed Dance, Google it, it is a traditional holiday a event). So I have til Tuesday until Day one of the official start of the job. By the way, I literally had to pour water into my toliet to flush it after sitting on the have broken seat. The place is in great condition, but the bathroom needs major work including retiling.

(Good thing I did a little of that in MI on summer breaks for work.)

What a BIRTHDAY. I really am amazed at how my life has really turned out. At 38 to be sitting on a foam matt, typing away on laptop surrounded by cars, voices through the walls, dogs and babies I am going sleep great tonight.

But I did see some roosters at the home next store. But no more cows, goats by the way I really hate Roosters.

  2. Now you can have a pet rooster instead of the pet rat you had before. :)
