Art Classes & Painting Part 11 (Day 2, Ward 5 Sunday July 8th, 2012)

So let’s go back to late, Dec 2011,

Titi & I are chilling out watching Joseph paint the Ward 4 mural, this what I believe was the actual trigger for this projects idea. He asked me how could he get Joseph to paint something on his Ward 5 Center, we were 5 days from Christmas Eve, I had no idea. But I did know I wanted to put more art up on walls. Then over Christmas break I thought about this project.

Titi, a Black Terrors player, AMICAALL pre-school teacher & the Ward 4 construction site manager, has proven numerous times over my 2 years that he is one of most excellent of person I ever met, and when designing this project I could not leave out his Center. It would be so unfair because his Center is actual the one in the best condition when I arrived and moves down to 3rd after all of the work I was able to during my service. It would have just been wrong for it to be left to the blank nicely painted walls.

So as the idea for the project came around Ward 5 was always going to be the Center that the students painted their work on. So instead of big mural like both 2 & 4 got. Ward 5 got 15 individual pieces plus one large animal.

Titi even got to put his own up on the wall.

The individual ones:

This is Titi's

These two are the Mathendele Boys, Joseph called it lazyness since neither of them really tried very hard, plus all three changed from what they drew on Saturday.

Sifiso, of the Mathendele Boys, who failed from his sketch to Bristal board, had Joseph find a bird he could draw but most of the coloring is Joseph's has he showed him how to do it.

This one is Joseph's

So this is Senzo's Butterfly, as you can see it is pretty much the same from his original sketch on paper. Proof that an artist is a true artist is how well he can recreate his own work.

And Sambulo's he ditched the bus which I think was causing him his troubles & just went with the landscape, its hard to tell but that yellow thing sitting on branch is monkey added by Joseph

  1. Great combination of designs by the different kids as well as adults. Nice addition to the building.
