Social Center Part 29 (Ceilings & Floors & puzzles)

So the last remaining major expenses and obstacles are the getting ceilings & floors.

And as the has been the case in 2012, we are a bit disorganized. But now the ceilings have been finished being installed. they are still in the process of being painted. Which has caused a different problem and that is paint on the already painted walls. So it is requiring lots of touch ups of the old paint on the main walls. And since we have multiple different colors for the rooms we are luck there has been left over paint for each room.

So an interesting puzzle happen. The paint from the bucket, the same bucket that had been used didnt match. We are all like what the $%^&. So I walked into town and talked to a guy who mixes paint for a living. His advice on the difference was to stir it for a long time often the paint once open and sits for couple of months can separate. So mixing it brings back the original color. And he asked if we were using clean brushes. Well it turns out it wasn't mixed very well & the paint brushes although and appearing clean were soaking in a bucket of white water from the ceiling paint. So that combo made the mixer just enough different to be off.

I was about to buy a whole new big can of paint to repaint the whole room.

Anyway, it truly was a puzzle wrapped in a mystery that took detective work to figure out.

Of course we cant start the flooring until the ceiling is painted that would just create more work cleaning the floors. So about a half days delay figuring out this puzzle.

The little destruction fixed.

Ceilings in progress

Ceilings finished but not painted.

Just a cool photo.

And the Flooring begins.

  1. Progress, sometimes slow ... sometimes a step or two backward, even as steps ahead are taken. love the tile man in the corner - there's a real story there ... good to hear of the progress being made.

  2. I agree. I love to hear about the progress, even the problems that must be overcome along the way. Is the tile guy still in the corner, or did you get a pulley system to lift him out? :)
