With the Social Center work shut down until Town Council gets the doors & windows (see Social Center #13 entry for this story)
It was busy at the office. Our Program Manager scheduled 3 events on Saturday all at the same time and then went on leave for the week before and arrived late Saturday. The Youth Mentor was in Manzini at a workshop for the whole week and I went to the All Volunteer conference & Thanksgiving, so that left Dennis my awesome counterpart and a very can do get it done kind of guy to do the work plus the Social Center manager.
The 3 events
Pre-School Graduation
PMTCT (Prevention of Mother to Child) Family Day
And
a copy cat soccer tournament similar to the SSCS event we ran in Sep but put to together and funded by the National Office/FLAS.
So Friday was just crazy with to dos after returning from stuffing my belly at the Ambassadors house with real traditional Thanksgiving food. I ate 2 plates of dinner and desert, And the joke was Group 9 (the newbies were just excited to be there), Group 8 (My group brought tupperware for to gos) and the few, only 4 Group 7 (where ready to go home after the meal (they live in Mbabane where the Ambassador lives also).
I helped make graduation certificates, programs, organize 2 different DJ's/sound systems and then in the evening on Friday referred several Street ball soccer games connected with the soccer tournament.
Saturday, was lots of graduation stuff early, then helping inflate a jumping castle for PMTCT and then off to support the events at the soccer tournament, Sunday was just the soccer tournament.
And Dennis saved the day on all of these events with little appreciation from the Program Manager, who did nothing, The National Office staff did much more of their share of the work for this event since it was organized by them.
I am very proud and have been blessed to have Dennis as such a great counterpart, he has made my service here tremendously successful already and I still have year to go.
