Game #21 9-8-3 35 League Points

So we are playing the 5th place ranked team and we are #6. Last week we played #3 a got a draw.

This week we won 1-0.

It was a very exciting game. We got lots of opportunities for goals and the other keeper made several really great saves. Our keeper made 2 really great in return. We only had 13 players at the game and had to sit out cause we were unsure if he had 3 yellow cards or not (a player has to sit out a game after he gets 3 doesn't matter the time in the season). So better to be safe than sorry he didn't play. Leaving only one sub for the game.

I made it at half time and brought in more fire power on offense and swapped the outside midfielders for a more defensive one to play against the more offensive player that was giving us trouble.

They had a shot bounce off the post. Then we came down the field got a penatly in the box that wasn't a penalty kick, an indirect one (which means it has to hit 2 players before scoring). So the player I subbed in took the kick hitting towards the far post, the striker who has scored 11 goals hit the ball with his head back into the middle right in front of the box. And we scored. The player who scored was the one I flopped from side to side. Oh, and when I brought the offensive sub, I pushed the striker who got the assist to the outside midfield.

So it was a perfect example of how a coach can really effect a game by his substitutions and on field changes. But it is still the players who win or lose the game.

Now we should be the 5th Place team and climbing.

oh, and the striker who got the assist in the last 10 minutes of the game got his 2nd yellow card of the game for acting more injured than he was. So we finished the game with 10 men. And then the referee added an additional 6 minutes to the game. Pretty weird thing to do in this league, extra time is rarely given. So the referee was definitely giving the other team an advantage.

But we still won.

  1. Congratulations on the win. Great coaching, but as you say "the players do the job about winning or losing".
