No one there to greet me when I came home (and no poop or pee to clean up). The house is considerable more quite without her bouncing around and making her noises, she was a very noisy not barking type of dog. When I cooked dinner she wasn’t there staring up at me or trying to attack my feet. The apt really feels empty.
But I am getting more sleep, the house WAY cleaner and all of sudden I have a lot less responsibility.
After about 6 wks I realized that I had adapted to allowing all of my free time to her. I was averaging a book a week per Bread, didn’t read one during her time with me. I guess that is how life works with dogs and kids. My first real taste of that life. I guess it is the taste of a responsible for someone life other than my own.
I have received many great emails of sympathy & encouragement from family, US based friends and since all of the PCV volunteer got to know Bread at the IST training, many great ones from them also. It is interesting how the Group 8 (my group) are very close naturally, but the Group 7 which I have only really meet for a couple of days and I am not very close to at all, it becomes a close knit group when we are in a storm like Swaziland. So they have been very supportive.
