MOVIES IN A THEATER. A THEATER

Cross the border back into Swaziland, my home.  it was very weird to cross a border into a country that is not America and thinking of it as home.

I make my way to the Ezelwini Valley in Swaziland. This is the tourist area where game parks attract thousands of visitors to Swaziland. The homes are big and nice, there are 5 star hotels, lots of great backpacker hotel, a casino and a BRAND NEW MOVIE THEATER.

Swaziland, a country of only 1 million people did not even have a signal movie theater in the country. NOT ONE. Until 2 weeks before Christmas when this one just opened. It is only 4 screens but with stadium seating, great sound, some technical problems with focus and framing on the projector but nothing terrible. To be sitting in a seat in the movie theater again WAS THE BEST. I have always joked that if I had choose between giving up work on movies and seeing movies in the theater, I would retire right away, well I did that back in June and since then hadn’t been in a theater. And I would bet that this 7 months of no movie theater viewings is longest of my movie viewing life, which pretty much started at age 6 with Star Wars in 1977. I know for a fact it is the longest since high school, no doubt. (My personal record is 5 movies in a day and 8 over 2 days)

And the first film I saw is Unstoppable, a film I almost went out to PA to work on, I know many of the names in the credits and it was the perfect film to see as my first in Swaziland cause it rocks. Then the next one was Life As We Know It, a very entertaining film. I then walked over to the Casino won 100 Rand on the roulette table (Texas Hold ‘em is not I repeat not popular hear so there was only the machines, roulette and blackjack.

Then went to sleep at an awesome backpackers.
